True Blood Episode Review – Let’s Boot and Rally
By
Well this true blood episode starts hot and heavy with what looks like Alcide and Sookie finally getting it on. Poor Alcide – just when he thinks he will finally get his wish and they start peeling clothes off, Sookie throws up all over his shoes and then Bill and Erik show up.
Sometimes I feel sorry for that wolf! And I don’t know about you but doesn’t Bill sound just a little on the chilly side? I know he is not exactly happy with Sookie right now, but those cold vampire ways of his can sure put a chill in anyone’s soul!
Layayette Asks for Help
Meanwhile, it looks like Lafayette is losing his control and he begins to really freak out about the monster within. That bit with the talking altar was just so creepy! When he later has to deal with the talking zombie head of Jesus it just seems like the poor guy is in for some really bad supernatural stuff ahead. I don’t think this is what he had in mind when he asked Jesus to send him a sign. A bit fragmented in this storyline but still will be interesting to see where it goes.
Jason is still struggling with the information he found out last week in this true blood episode about how his parents were killed. His dream about them is almost prophetic of the event later in the show when he and the Sherriff go to investigate Sam’s discovery of a dead couple of shifters. It feels like the beginning in this true blood episode of a new threat that will show us how this new vigilante group is getting stronger.
Is War Truly to Begin?
Could it be that it is just a coincidence they show up just as Russell is reviving? Is there a connection with The Authority’s little problem of infiltrators? And of course we see more of this group of vigilante’s later when Sam runs to warn Lorna and instead is shot by the group of “good old boys” along with Lorna. But the kid shifts and runs, so we will have to see next week if the bullet count on Sam leaves him too close to dead or just hurt bad enough to go after the murderers. Looks like Bon Temps has finally gotten tired of what “the supes” do to their town, in the same way that Jason was starting to think about how long they had been plagued by strange deaths in town but never questioned them until now.
Speaking of the Authority, we heard one hell of a speech in this true blood episode from Roman when he in essence declares war. But I have to wonder if Roman is not making a mistake by not suspecting Salome as he clears out anyone who might be in cahoots with Russell and the old style vamps. She sometimes seems to be pulling his strings as well, and we know how old she is, so that makes her pretty powerful.
But it appears that Bill and Erik have their own suspicions about just whose side anyone is on. As the dynamic duo look closer into who exactly freed Russell, Bill and Erik lose a bit of their brotherly love for each other when Bill suggests Nora may just have set them up. Of course, Erik will have no thoughts that his “sister” might have led them into a trap, and the fangs to come out but no real fight yet. Save that for Russell guys – you are gonna need it!
Sookie Comes to a Realization
Because, of course, the moment Bill and Erik show up with the news Russell is back and probably looking for Sookie, the girl finally admits that life is never going to get back to normal again. Shoot, at this point I don’t know if Sookie would even remember what normal looks like! So she puts on her leather jacket and rounds up “the boys” to go kick some Russell butt! You have got to say this much for Sookie, she is no wallflower waiting for someone to come rescue her, nor is she the kind of gal to hide from something she fears.
And we get to catch up with Tara, who is starting to adjust to life as a vamp. The scene in this true blood episode at Fantasia where she chats with Jess about what she is going through and Jess offers the lifeline of “girlfriends” because they are both newly made vamps is great. I am beginning to like Jess, who seemed like such a pain in the butt at first. Although the little catfight in the ladies room over Hoyt seems a little far-fetched. I hope that isn’t the end of the girlfriend pact though, because Tara could use the support of someone who understands what she is going through.
The Return of Russell
We return in this week’s true blood episode to Sookie and a very frightened guy who she is reading (I didn’t catch his name), Alcide and the dynamic duo of Bill and Erik heading into a spookie old house to catch Russell. I love the scene in this true blood episode were Bill and Erik try to take over directing who will go where and Sookie stops them cold by reminding them that in all the horror movies you do no not split up to go into the creepy old mansion unless you want to get picked off one by one.
Plus, with her powers she is the one protecting them! She may be right as they stumble upon a pile of discarded bodies, and then find the room where the fresh meat is kept, humans being held for consumption. They find Russell, and he is not only very much alive, he looks pretty well revived. Why they don’t just stake him then and there is beyond me.
You would think they learned their lesson from the last time, but I sure as heck didn’t see any weapons in anyone hands. But there is more going on we don’t see because we hear a noise behind but the screen goes black before we see what it is. Next week’s true blood episode I guess, to find out just how many times you can confront Russell and be stupid enough to not kill him first and ask questions later.
