Posted by: | Comments (0)

Well the New Year is here and with it is a crop of delicious new vampire books for everyone to enjoy! It is almost overwhelming how many great books are out there. I thought I would do everyone a favor and pull out of the heap the best of the new vampire books for everyone to read and savor. There is a bit of everything here for all kinds of tastes. Somewhere in this list is the perfect vampire book for you.

Veronica Valentine and the Vampire Vendetta by Diana Garland, new vampire booksVeronica Valentine and the Vampire Vendetta by Diana Garland

How could I not choose it with a title like this? Luckily, what is inside the book is just as much fun. Told in the kind of voice that can only get you in more trouble, Veronica is a detective in a future where vampires are very much real and trouble just seems to follow our heroine around.

A witch with a penchant for technology, her ex-boyfriend vampire enlists her to help find an important missing artifact. Soon Veronica finds herself up to her cute little ears in wizards, ninja monks and all sorts of things that probably would be happy to kill her. A quick and quirky read to completely remove you from your daily life. Luckily you can download your Kindle edition right now and be reading it tonight.

Queen of the Freaks by Angela Anderson, new vampire booksQueen of the Freaks by Angela Anderson

What do you do when you are the cutest most popular girl in town and it all changes on your nineteenth birthday? Melanie says it all started when she met a gnome taxi driver who told her she was Queen Tianna. She dismisses it, but wakes the next morning with a new hair color, a craving for raw meat and a toothache that won’t go away.

Add in the gay vampire who saves her from a tiny dragon and you get the picture. Turns out Melanie’s birth parents are the Queen of the Fairies and a vampire. This is another hilarious book about life amongst the unreal, and written in such an amusing manner that I just couldn’t put it down. If you want a break from all those dark and dangerous vampires, this is a great book to read and unwind. You can start unwinding now with your own downloaded copy of the Kindle version.

The Vampire Within New Blood by Drew Silver, new vampire booksThe Vampire Within: New Blood by Drew Silver

This is vampire horror telling at its best! The third book in the Vampire Within series, the story is a bit science fiction and a bit fantasy horror. It all takes place in a bucolic if fictional town in California. It is a tidy and well-behaved town, with a successful University and an easy way of life. But there are dark happenings on the campus as a science experiment on some of the students yields a deadly secret.

Can anyone truly fight the beast that lies within as students go through transformations into monsters. In this second book, we follow the lives of two pairs of students and their battle to win over the deadly changes around them. Tightly written with well designed characters, this one will draw you in. You can get New Blood in two releases, either as a downloadable Kindle version to read right away or order your own paperback version to put on the shelf along with the rest of the series.

Blessed By a Demon’s Mark by E.S. Moore, new vampire booksBlessed By a Demon’s Mark by E.S. Moore

Vampire hunter Kat is back and this time she might even be nice! For anyone who follows the adventures of vampire hunter Kat Redding, you know this gal is one bad-ass that takes heads now and ask questions later. The last book in the series showed Lady Death at her most cold, and for many it was almost a challenge to stay with the story. Don’t get me wrong, Moore writes a mean story and the secondary characters are sterling with a strong world-building that makes you doubt your version of reality.

But we were all ready for Kat to redeem herself, and she does in Blessed by a Demon’s Mark. Kat has renounced her old life and is living in the quiet town of Delai. But the town is too quiet, and when Kat leaves it to answer the call of an old “friend”, she realizes that something evil is happening in the town. But what exactly is the cause? Of course, there is far more going on than this as Kat soon finds she must choose sides in a battle she would prefer to stay out of altogether. Ready to read? You can download onto your Kindle the latest from E.S. Moore’s dark series or order the paperback version and have it in your hot little hands soon.

Blood Calling by Joshua Grover-David Patterson, new vampire booksBlood Calling by Joshua Grover-David Patterson

Lucy is by no means in the popular crowd at school. She is more than a bit of a loner; she has one good friend and she loses that person right after her 18th birthday. The day she crashed her car after drinking spiked punch at a party when everyone she knew forgot it was her birthday. The judge gives her community service and it is through this that she comes to The Sundown Shelter, and there meets her first vampire.

But the story really takes off when she tries to kill him, and in return he saves her life. This is not your average vampire tale, it gives the most unusual back story to vampires I have ever read. It has many vampire heroes and a great vampire villain. Lucy feels like every young girl who struggles with alienation in her life with the addition of the vampires around her. Blood Calling has a well thought out community and contains an interesting concept for what promises to be a series worth checking out. You can start reading Blood Calling today in Kindle format or order the paperback version.

So there you have it, five new vampire books that each brings a very different approach to the idea. The sub-genre of vampire books within fantasy or horror has really grown in the last few years. These books are a great example of this, and I have barely scratched the surface of what is available and out there for the picking. Hope you enjoy them – they are all grand adventures with the fanged ones!
