I’m a huge fan of the books and the show. I’m really hoping Charlaine plans to write a few books for the series! :D

  2. Jula says:

I mean a few “more” books lol

  3. debbie says:

theres 11 books in the series now. the new one just came out recently.

  4. crystal says:

Is there going to be anymore books in the sookie stackhouse series, the last book i got is dead reckoning. and if so when will the next one be released? Ive got tons of series going and i dont want to miss the books when they come out. thanks Crystal

  5. Michelle says:

I have read on CH website that she will be releasing another book of The Sookie Stackhouse Collection in May 2012. I am patiently waiting!!!

  6. Lacey says:

I am a big fan of the TV series True Blood; just recently heard about these books; ordered the first book in the series; I hope I am going to enjoy them as much as the show. Does anyone have any comments as to if it compares to the show?

    • Kirsten says:

They are a million times better

    • monica says:

Yes, they are worth the read. More details and way better than the show.

    • Julie says:

Just to let you know, they are completely different. I read the series first and then tried to watch the show and couldn’t do it. I hope you don’t have that problem with reversing the process. The tv series is just loosely based on the books. There are so so so many differences, it may be hard for you to adjust to the books way of things. The books are spectacular and worth the read, you just have to be prepared that they are essentially two different series. I hope you enjoy the books!

      • Deni says:

Julie- You have said it so clearly – yes the books and the tv show are two different takes on the story. Allan Ball has always said he would combine things from books and add new characters as he felt he needed them. It is always this way when you take a book and turn it into a show or movie. Books have lots of internal dialogue – film and tv can’t do that.

    • jean says:

The TV show is much “darker,” with seriously scary stuff going on. In the books, all that happens has a much lighter tone. It’s presented from Sookie’s point of view and she puts a fun spin on all that happens to her. The writing is intelligent, funny, the pictures she puts in your head are believable and you wish you could be Sookie!

      • Deni says:

        Jean
Yes – thanks for pointing that out. Their is definitely a darker tone to the TV show. I guess that is why I love the books so much.

    • Linda says:

I read the books first then started watching “True Blood” – I hated it…they turned it into too much of a visual ‘sex’ show! LOVE the books and can’t wait for the newest one to be released!! Have it preordered on my NOOK!

      • Deni says:

        Linda
Yes, I know that many of the TB fans of the books don’t care much for the show, some love the show and don’t care much for the books. Don’t you just love being able to read them on your Nook?

  7. shaune says:

just finished the 11th book, they were all fantastic :)
can’t wait for the next one…

    • Deni says:

I agree with Shaune, Monica and Kirsten that the books are just so much better. You can’t help it – there is more in a book than you can put in a TV show. If you love the show, check out the books! And a new one is on its way soon!

  8. Joy says:

Does anyone know where I can purchase Dead Reckoning for my Kindle? Amazon’s is expensive, and it costs almost the same as the book.

  9. Edie says:

I got hooked on the series when I ordered the free one on my NOOK. That was a great way to find out about the series. I am now a dedicated fan.

    • Deni says:

      Edie
You got the first one free on your Nook? Man, talk about ‘ hey little girl the first one is free’ ! But ya, that is a great way to introduce the series to a new reader. After all, look at you, a big dedicated fan now! Thanks for the comment -

  10. Andrea Campbell says:

I bought the box set 2 weeks ago, as u wanted to have my True Blood fix waiting for season 5. I have now finished all the 10 in the box set, borrowed dead in the family from the library yesterday and finished that. Am now waiting forum next one to arrive. Am addicted. Best read, and still working full time (very hard to put down, even in the wee hours of the morning).

    • Deni says:

Oh No! Andrea has got it bad! But I know what you mean, I have caught myself up reading my TB fix at some crazy hour even if I had to get up the next morning – sometimes you just gotta know! Thanks Andrea for sharing that with us

  11. gail schurba says:

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS You can put your own faces to characters in your mind. TV show choice stinks :)

    • Deni says:

Ha! You are so right Gail! I much prefer coming up with my own versions – but must admit when feeling lazy TV shows are great to just sit and be fed the stories too. But I love your enthusiasm!

  12. Mano_o says:

    Hello :)
i was wondering how many Sookie Stackhouse Books are out already?
its a rally great series i really love it :)

  13. Sarah says:

I was completely absorbed by these books. I can’t wait for the next book. I agree the TV version True Blood is a lot different but it makes me wonder where Alan Ball will take it. So I won’t be disappointed because I already know its quite a bit different from books already. The books are very good and I have found myself up to all hours of the night reading I can’t get enough. I already pre-ordered the new book, May can’t come soon enough and I can’t wait till July for True Blood’s season premiere.

    • Deni says:

Thanks Sarah – waiting can be hard for either the books or the show, but with TB it is always worth the wait!

      • Tammy says:

OMG! A friend at work told me I needed to read the books! I have become completely obsessed. I read all 12 books in just under 3 weeks!!!!!! Now my Mom is hooked! I just have to say, Quinn was my favorite as a match for Sookie. Eric is “HOT” yes, but there was just something about Quinn…… :)

        • Deni says:

Thanks Tammy- isn’t it fun when you find a series like this to get obsessed over? Glad you are enjoying them.

  14. shereen says:

Addicted…… Wow I borrowed the series of books have read the whole lot in a week so i am now trolling ebay and gumtree. lol to buy the series for my self and read them again at a leisurely pace. omg watched the series first but live the books heaps more…..

    • Deni says:

Shereen – if you look there are also some used ones on the listings we link to at Amazon. You just need to look at the ones listed on the site as used. Hope this tip helps you to find them all.

  15. Sarah says:

Did you guys hear Alan Ball will no longer be the head writer of True Blood for season 6. He did such a great job, that’s just too bad. I wonder what will happen to the Series. :o

    • Deni says:

Latest word is that nothing else will really change. Alan Ball has another series he is developing and actually had originally planned to leave this season but stayed on one more time. Yes – we will miss him but it will be interesting to see where the show goes with a new showrunner at the helm.

  16. Ali Bali says:

I loved the tv series and was very excited when I found the first book as an audio book at the library as I drive a lot. Gutted not to be able to find more as audio books I downloaded the entire book series onto my kindle and I haven’t been able to put them down. I’m on book 10 now and I love the tv and book series equally (ok the books a bit more). I think it’s best to look at them as separate entities.

    • Deni says:

Ali- Glad to hear you loved the audiobooks too. You may be happy to hear that the next one in the series, Deadlocked, will be out in audiobook the same time as the novel, in June. As usual the amazing Johanna Parker will be reading this one. You can see my comments on the new audiobook in our upcoming blog next week!

  17. Ashley says:

May is not getting here fast enough!!!!!! :(

  18. Lynda says:

Sookie Stackhouse books were great. Enjoyed them all and am anxiously awaiting for May to get here. Thanks for all the entertainment!

    • Deni says:

Your welcome Lynda – like you we can hardly wait for June when the next book comes out and True Blood returns to the air!

  19. Do these short stories come in books on their own?? Or ?? I’m confused.

    • Sounds like they’re not short then??

    • Deni says:

      HI Nicola
Good question- the book I think you are asking about is the Sookie Companion book, which is a separate book of short stories that Charlaine has done from time to time in various publications. They are gathered together in the companion book so Sookie fans get a chance to read them all. So yes, they are short stories in a book all their own. It is just that there are several of them in one book.

  20. Susan says:

I have just recently learned about Tru Blood, and had no idea there were books!!! Now that I know I will get them lol…. Oh and I finished seasons 1-4 in 3 days =) love me some Bill Compton… sexy, he can bite my neck or whatever any time =)

  21. Karla says:

When is the next book out?

  22. Raayven says:

I can’t wait for the next book. I’ve been keeping up with the books, since first seeing True Blood. It changed my perception to the show. Now, when I watch True Blood, I always have to remember “This isn’t the Sookie Stackhouse novels. This is just… A different reality.”

But thank you so much for this list. It’s helped me keep up with what books my personal library is missing!

  23. Rochelle says:

I love, love, love the books. I started out by watching True Blood and then decided to read all of the books a couple of months ago. I would just like to say that I have completed all 11 books on top of having a full time job and running my own business. I just could not put them down. Every chance I get, i’m reading on my Kindle and I have to agree, the books are not on the same course as the show, they are soooo much better. I can’t wait for the new book that will be out shortly. Hopefully this won’t be the last one. Thanks for bringing Sookie into all of our lives:)

  24. shawn says:

Why did these books almost double in price? Not to happy about that as I am already paying for my own internet service to download the book. They are not incurring any cost for print or paper, no middle man to ship books to store etc. After the last book comes out in may… I will not continue to purchase sookie stackhouse books if more books are released and the price continues as such.. I have thoroughly enjoyed all 11 books that I have read…but I will not be taken advantage of.

    • STACY says:

I agree shawn ?I just paid 10.99 GBP UK for deadlocked as I can’T get enough but this should be so much cheaper as there are less overheads for the printing company, I am sure the writer does not get anywhere near as much as this for their cut. ButI just had to have it and it was fantastic now im at a loss cause for the last week I have paid for and downloaded five books on ituneS for this series and now i’ve caught upto date and feel like sulking. hurry up with the next one please…. it cant come soon enough.

  25. Marissa says:

I started watching the TV series and then decided to read the books. I could hardly put down the books. I hope Charlaine Harris continues to publish Sookie Stackhours books. I love the books. Right now I’m only on book number six.

    Loyal Fan

    • Deni says:

Ah Marissa – you are in for a treat then! Let us know what you think of the series when you are through…

  26. Kelly says:

I was really surprised, to be honest, to see how much the first season of TrueBlood actually followed the first book. Details were definatly changed, and some character alterations were made (I would guess A couple characters are pulled backwards into book 1′s story so they are there all the time, but no spoilers, starting book 2 tonight!!) but overall, after seeing some of the book to movie adaptations over the last few years, at least that book was fairly well done. I think the longer format of the TV show and the relativly shorter book length was helpful. Enjoyed the book a lot and am looking forward to more!

    • Deni says:

Yes I agree, that considering how often adaptations mess up the books, they are doing a great job with the show. I think Alan Ball has a lot to do with that, he has the right sensibility for the translation to work well. Thanks for the comments Kelly, and I envy you the discovery of the books! It is always best the first time (giggle)
