Night Huntress Series Author Jeanine Frost Announces New Fantasy SeriesBy Deni
For those of us who love Jeanine Frost’s Night Huntress series, she has a new one in the wings that sounds equally dark and delicious. The new series will be a paranormal romance called Realmwalker . We should see the first book hit the net and bookstore shelves this coming fall, probably around October. The word on the street is that Harlequin will be publishing it under their HQN line and Frost has said that the protagonists will be younger than she usually has them. From the sounds of it, this new fantasy series may fall within the boundaries of a YA urban fantasy.
Destiny will play a big role in this new series, much as it did for Cat in Night Huntress. The main character (no name yet) is a teen who in the first book of the series discovers she is a part of an ancient group of people. Just what kind of people Frost is not yet revealing, but my guess is there will be vampires in here somewhere. She says not to expect the “adult” type of vampire characters we saw in Night Huntress but that there will be plenty of supernatural beings to keep the paranormal fans happy.
The girl has an ally in a mysterious young man, and there are hints that a romance will grow between the two. But Frost says that initially there will be plenty of sparks and a fear of betrayal. Since this was the tension that made the adventures of Cat and Bones so much fun, I am hoping that kind of sparring will be evident in this series as well.
She says that the idea of this series came to her in a dream that was so vivid she had to write down her memories of the characters. From that she began to write and flesh it out, and soon she had 15,000 words. Since this is pretty much how she came to the idea for the Night Huntress series, I have to admit I am pretty excited to hear this.
For those fans of her two current series, Night Huntress and Night Prince, have no fear we are losing our beloved vamps and vamp hunters. Frost says that the work she is doing on this new YA series will not interfere with her current work on these two series and they will each have new books coming out this year.
