Must Hear Vampire Novel Audiobook-Blood PriceBy
The streets of Toronto are not safe. There has been a mysterious rash of killings, horrible violent killings that end with a victim whose throat is slashed and mutilated almost beyond recognition. The media is talking vampire, but can such a thing exist? Before there was Sookie and Bill and Erik there was another vampire novel with a trio that may not have included a werewolf but definitely included a vampire.
Vicki Nelson was a cop for years and good at her job until night blindness took her off the force for good. Not about to sit around and wait for her disease to get worse, she sets up a private detective agency and soon finds herself embroiled in trying to find out what is out there killing in such a gruesome way. Her partner Mike is a man of pragmatic virtues and he will not buy her theory of a vampire on the loose in Toronto.
It is while she is investigating such a killing that she runs across Henry Fitzroy, a dapper gentleman who writes romance novels and just happens to be a 450-year old vampire. But he isn’t the killer, and he wants to help Vicki find out who is, for this focus on vampires is dangerous for the bastard son of Henry VIII.
The chemistry between Vicki and Henri in this vampire novel leads to an uneasy partnership, one that can be hard to keep afloat with Vicki’s inability to work at night and Henri’s aversion to the day, let alone Mike’s inability to even accept who Henri is. Despite these handicaps, they are soon working together to try and unravel the mystery for the murders are not the work of a vampire, they were done by a demon.
Worse yet, it is a demon who has been summoned to do these deeds with a very real end game in mind. For the victims spell out the name of a major demon that if summoned has the power to open the gates of Hell forever. And that would spell the end of humanity as we know it.
If you love the vampire novels of Sookie Stackhouse and her vampires, if you are waiting with bated breath for the next Anita Blake vampire story to come out, then Blood Price is the perfect antidote. Tanya Huff penned this series, which this vampire story is an audio reading of the first vampire book in the series, before Harris ever wrote her Southern Vampire Series.
Huff predates many of the current vampire book concepts and yet this is still a fresh and exciting story. It is a vampire novel that has none of the clichés because it was written before the vampire story became popular. Read by popular Canadian film actress/model Justine Eyre it is a treat just to sit back and enjoy this amazing vampire story from a mistress of the form.
